How to Access Desktop Icons and Files from your Web Browser

Feb 24, 2009

You have used windows shortcut WIN+D or quick launch icon to access desktop but there is also a different way to access your desktop from your Web browser.
Now instead of minimizing the browser to access these files, you can simple create a shortcut in the bookmarks toolbar of your browser that points to the desktop folder. Click this bookmark and you’ll be able to browse through desktop content within the browser.

To create a bookmark pointing the desktop,
open this address - file:///c:/Documents and Settings/ in address box of IE or in Firefox or in any other web browser.
And make it a bookmark.

Note: For Firefox type - (file:///c:/Documents and Settings/ ) inside a new tab in Firefox. Click your user name and then click on Desktop and then pres CTRL+D to bookmark
