Hi Ritesh,
Scroll Lock key when On allows scrolling of screen text up, down using the arrow keys.
Although i haven't used it since years and its not even present on my lappy too...

Microsoft Excel is a good example of a software program that uses this key. If scroll lock is enabled on the keyboard when you press any of the arrow keys the screen will move in that direction but the selected cell will not change. However, if scroll lock is not enabled you will be able to navigate through each of the cells using the arrow keys.

Scroll lock as the name suggests was developed by IBM to lock all kinds of scrolling techniques. Its of no use these days

In Linux virtual consoles, the scroll lock key is used to pause screen output. This behavior emulates the Hold Screen key or similar flow control mechanisms on computer terminals. Because of this emulation, the term scroll lock is sometimes used to generically refer to a screen pausing behavior. This usage could potentially cause confusion since screen pausing behavior is not intrinsically a part of the scroll lock key. In DOS, the Pause key pauses the screen output .
apart from this its other uses are to scroll the contents of text window without the use of curser
